THE MISSIONARY SISTERS OF MARY IMMACULATE (MSMI)

The Missionary Sisters of Mary Immaculate is a congregation founded according to the divine inspiration of the Holy Spirit by Late Rev. Fr. C.J.Varkey on Sept 8th, 1962. The main charism of the congregation is to spread the redeeming love of Jesus through family apostolate with special emphasis on house visiting and preaching of the Word of God. The deep love for Jesus compels the sisters of the Congregation to reach out to the least and the lost through various ministries like preaching, counselling, orphanages, old age homes, leprosy centres, nursing, teaching etc. The MSMI which was raised to a Congregation of Pontifical right by Pope John Paul II on 15 Oct, 1988 is a response of the Church to the world’s spiritual hunger. Sisters with their God experience impart the love of Jesus through their respective ministries. Love of God which is ever inflamed in the heart of the MSMI sisters through the spirit of prayer urges them to reach the farthest and widest corners of the world with the Gospel. Today the Congregation which is in its 50th year of birth with 760 members has spread its wings to the states of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Chattisgarh, Jammu & Kashmir, Delhi and even outside the country to Germany, Italy and America.
